Does the MCU have its perfect Wolverine? Jeremy Allen White gives his thoughts on the viral fancast placing him in the upcoming X-Men reboot.
The fancast circuit has been absolutely bustling ever since the X-Men reboot was announced to be actively in development for the MCU. Dozens of internet personalities, blogs, and Reddit threads haven given their thoughts on who should make up the beloved mutant team when they finally make their debut on the silver screen. Yet one character stands out above the rest: Wolverine.
There have been, without exaggeration, hundreds of actors floated to take on the claws of Wolverine in the upcoming reboot. Almost every big name male actor has been mentioned at least once in X-Men fancast discussions. Some popular names include Daniel Radcliffe, Tyler Hoechlin, and Henry Cavill. However, one name starting to gain traction in these discussions is The Bear and Shameless star Jeremy Allen White.
Jeremy Allen White Responds To Wolverine Fancast
With Jeremy Allen White currently on the press circuit promoting his new film Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, the viral Wolverine fancast was always bound to come up. When asked if there was any chance he could join the MCU’s reboot of the X-Men, the actor seemed to play relatively coy about the possibility of picking up the claws.
“Oh, that’s nice, man, yeah,” White remarked on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “I mean, [Hugh Jackman]… That performance is great. He’s done it for so long, he’s really excellent. That’s nice. I’m not a big superhero-movie guy, but X-Men was the big — correct me if I’m wrong, but that was, like… those were the early ones and so, of course I loved all those movies, yeah.”
While Jeremy Allen White certainly didn’t deconfirm the possibility of him playing Wolverine in the MCU, it seems as though he’s not exactly hopping at the chance to join the X-Men reboot. It’s certainly understandable given the actor’s less than polished history with superhero media. Though, with the film still some years out from production, there’s always still a chance to see The Bear sprout some claws!
