Is Hawkeye OUT?

Is Hawkeye retired….again? Jeremy Renner speaks on if he plans to pick up the bow one last time (again) in Avengers: Doomsday.

“Just one more job.” It’s a line that has become synonymous with action movies – especially after major studios decided to stop making new ones and just revive old franchises. And with Marvel being one of the bastions of blockbusters over the past two decades, they obviously have a character that embodies this trope. And while the mantle occasionally switches, it once more belongs to Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye in Avengers: Doomsday.

Hawkeye has tried to retire multiple times throughout his tenure in the MCU. First at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, then a soft retirement between Endgame and his own series. Though, with Jeremy Renner suffering major injuries since and Hailee Steinfeld growing more popular by the year, many believe that the character may be retired for good heading into Avengers: Doomsday.

Is Hawkeye In Avengers: Doomsday?

During a recent press tour to promote Mayor of Kingstown, Jeremy Renner actually touched on the running gag of Hawkeye failing to make retirement stick. While the actor believes Clint Barton is truly trying to spend more time with his family, he’ll always be down for “one last job”- even if he didn’t specify whether or not that was Avengers: Doomsday.

“I think he started retired,” Renner told ComicBook.com. “But he’s always pulled out of retirement, you know. I think he’s a family man; you always know where his allegiance lies, and he’s always come out of retirement, man. Until he’s killed, he’s always gonna be working.”

In truth, it would be shocking if Hawkeye DIDN’T make a return alongside all of his other founding Avengers in either Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars. Even if the hero is retired, it’s likely the reappearance of some shockingly familiar faces will force him out to mentor the next generation of heroes, or maybe even shoot some arrows on his own!

Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
