Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner has shared a new behind-the-scenes photo of the Ronin tattoo.

Things drastically changed for Hawkeye in Avengers: Endgame when his family was snapped away by Thanos. His retirement and much-needed solace from saving the world came to a quick end as his family was whisked away, leaving him bitter and vengeful. In the five-year span between the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye assumed the role of Ronin, an assassin who took the lives of those who he believed were unworthy. Luckily, Natasha Romanoff snapped him out of his vengeful spree.

Now, Jeremy Renner is set to return as Hawkeye in a Disney Plus series of the same name. The project is set to air on the streaming service later this year but is currently going through reshoots in Toronto. On his Instagram story, Renner shared a Ronin tattoo that his Hawkeye would be sporting in the series. It’s unclear if this is a new tattoo or an old one previously seen in Endgame.

We left off Hawkeye with his family, so it’ll be interesting to see if he continues to assume the role of Ronin now that all seems to be well with the world. If he’s getting a new tattoo, it might mean that Hawkeye is jumping back into his old habits, which could signal the direction the Disney Plus series is heading. The wait for the series shrinks every day, as the Marvel project will drop on November 24.

Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye was last seen in Avengers: Endgame:

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.

Avengers: Endgame is available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD, while Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye will hit Disney Plus on November 24.
