Jessica Jones is on the run! Showrunner Dario Scardapane teases the heroine’s role heading into season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again.
Ever since it was announced that Daredevil; Born Again would be picking up where the Netflix series left off, fans have been expecting Krysten Ritter to make her grand return as Jessica Jones. And while she is officially confirmed to come back for season 2, there was a lot of speculation that the heroine would appear in the show’s freshman run.
And it seems that was almost the reality. When speaking about how Daredevil: Born Again handles Jessica Jones in season 2, showrunner Dario Scardapane reveals that the ALIAS Detective was always in his roadmap for the series, teasing that she’ll play a pivotal role when it comes to Mayor Fisk’s war on vigilantes in New York.
“Bringing Jessica Jones back was part of my original pitch when I joined Season 1,” Scardapane remarks in an interview (via ComicBookMovie.com) “She needs to be in this world. Wilson Fisk has outlawed vigilantes, and there are three vigilantes in our street-level world who don’t wear masks, and she’s one of them.”
How The MCU Changes Jessica Jones
However, it seems as though Jessica Jones won’t be the same one fans knew from the Netflix series. Continuing on, Dario Scardapane teases that the character’s time away from the MCU has changed her, and that will play a large role in how she factors into the story of Daredevil: Born Again season 2.
“So, what does that mean when she’s the one who’s being hunted? There’s a seven-year period between when the Netflix show ended and ours begins, and we treat that in real time. So, in that time, people had lives, things happened to them, and in Season 2 we’ll get to see that with Jessica.”
Jessica Jones has gone through a lot of changes in the comics, so there’s no telling where Dario Scardapane will take the character now that she’s officially in the MCU. Some speculate that her child will be introduced in season 2, giving her something else to fight for as Daredevil: Born Again sets up a literal fight for the future of vigilantes.
