Jim Lee Says Original DC Universe Content Will Move To HBO Max

Jim Lee has revealed what is in store for the DC Universe's original content!

In what will undoubtedly be seen as another nail in the DC Universe’s coffin, Jim Lee has confirmed that all of the streaming platform’s original content will move to HBO Max.

When Warner Bros announced that it would be developing its own streaming service to rival that of Netflix and Disney+, many wondered just what that would mean for the DC Universe streaming service. Since HBO Max launched, the writing has been on the wall for the DC Universe. Doom Patrol was made available on HBO Max as were the first two seasons of Harley Quinn. Stargirl moved completely from the streaming service to The CW and the DC Universe’s yearly subscription plan was completely scrapped. Now comic book legend and DC Publisher Jim Lee has confirmed what will become of the rest of the DC Universe’s original content.

During a recent interview, Jim Lee addressed the massive layoffs that happened at DC Comics earlier this month. During that same interview, he was asked about the fate of the DC Universe streaming service where the publisher confirmed that all of its original content would be making its way to HBO Max. He did not say whether or not it would be scrapped altogether or not:

“The original content that is on DCU is migrating to HBO Max. Truthfully, that’s the best platform for that content. The amount of content you get, not just DC , but generally from WarnerMedia, is huge and it’s the best value proposition, if I’m allowed to use that marketing term. We feel that is the place for that.

In regards to the community and experience that DCU created, and all the backlist content, something like 20.000 to 25,000 different titles, and the way it connected with fans 24-7, there is always going to be a need for that. So we’re excited to transform it and we’ll have more news on what that will look like. It’s definitely not going away.”

What do you all make of Jim Lee’s words? Are you surprised that all of the DC Universe’s original content will be finding its way to HBO Max? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
