Joker director Todd Phillips shared new behind-the-scenes photos from the Joaquin Phoenix film.
Warner Bros. and DC’s Joker has earned an unprecedented level of box office success for an R-rated film and the Joaquin Phoenix could become the first feature with such a rating to reach $1 billion worldwide as it heads into its sixth weekend. To celebrate the sixth weekend of release, Joker director Todd Phillips took to his official Instagram account to share new behind-the-scenes photos featuring Joaquin Phoenix and the rest of the team who worked on the film.
The photos offer fans their latest look at Joaquin Phoenix and Todd Phillips collaborating during key scenes in Joker. In the caption, Todd Phillips notes that people should not read anything into the photos he selects, as he is simply choosing to share the Joker images as he finds them.

Director Todd Phillips “Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone fictional story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck, who is indelibly portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, is of a man struggling to find his way in Gotham’s fracturedsociety. A clown-for-hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic at night…but finds the joke always seems to be on him. Caught in a cyclical existence between apathy and cruelty, Arthur makes one bad decision that brings about a chain reaction of escalating events in this gritty character study.
