Is Deathstroke back?

Joe Manganiello’s latest Instagram post has fans thinking he’s set to return as Deathstroke in the DCEU.

Justice League ended with the promise of Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke taking on Batman. While those plans never came into fruition, Zack Snyder’s director’s cut saw the star returning as the assassin for a future Knightmare sequence. After that… radio silence. Fans have been hoping to see Manganiello return as Deathstroke, but with the DC Extended Universe largely shifting away from Snyder’s original plans, expectations were at an all-time low.

In an interview late last year, Joe Manganiello admitted that he had divorced himself from the idea of returning as Deathstroke. But maybe things are looking different? The Deathstroke star took to Instagram to share a brand new photo of himself as Slade Wilson. The new image also happens to the be star’s new profile photo.

This latest update from Joe Manganiello has fans thinking that the star is set to return in the DCEU. Warner Bros. has a number of projects in the works and after the success of Peacemaker on HBO Max, it’s clear that DCEU fans want more episodic content. Could there be a new Deathstroke project in the works? Or is this simply Joe Manganiello vying to return as the DCEU villain? Only time will tell.

Here is the synopsis for Zack Snyder’s Justice League:

“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”

Both versions of Justice League are available to stream on HBO Max. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DCEU, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
