Is Joe Manganiello finally getting a shot as Deathstroke? The actor teases his return to the DC Universe with an iconic clip of his character.
The old DC Universe, notoriously, wasted a lot of actors. However, perhaps no actor was more wasted than Joe Manganiello. He was cast as Deathstroke for an eleventh-hour post-credits scene in the theatrical cut of Justice League. However, due to the movie flopping and organizational changes, it quickly became clear that these plans were going to be abandoned.
Most have long-since come to terms with the fact that Joe Manganiello would never get a proper shot at playing Deathstroke on the silver screen. However, it seems as though the winds may be changing. The actor recently posted the solitary clip of his character with the caption “You better not be wasting my time…,” potentially signaling a DC Universe return.
Is Joe Manganiello Back As Deathstroke?
It has been reported that a Deathstroke and Bane film is in development for the DC Universe, potentially being angled as aSecret Six movie. A treatment for the project was reportedly delivered at the end of 2024. Now, a year and a half out, it’s possible that a script for the project has been finalized, with pre-production starting by contacting the actors.
DC Universe co-chair famously considered using Deathstroke in The Suicide Squad, likely having been played by Joe Manganiello. And even though he is technically a member of the old universe’s cast, he didn’t have a big enough role to confuse most fans. So it’s certainly possible he could make a return as the character, given the right circumstances.
