See The Raid star Joe Taslim becomes Sub-Zero for the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot which James Wan is producing.
Earlier this week, Joe Taslim was revealed as the first actor to join the cast of the new Mortal Kombat movie, having landed the role of Sub-Zero. Joe Taslim is best known for his roles in The Raid: Redemption and Netflix’s The Night Comes for Us. He has also appeared in franchise films such a Fast & Furious 6. While production won’t begin until later this year in Australia, that’s not enough to stop excited fans from imagining what Joe Taslim could look like as Sub-Zero in the Mortal Kombat reboot.

Highly demanded commercial director Simon McQuoid is set to make his directorial debut with the project. He’s best known for his commercials for PlayStation, Halo, Range Rover, and Beats by Dre.
Greg Russo has written the most recent draft of the script. While screenwriter Oren Uziel (22 Jump Street), who previously attached, teased that his adaptation of the violent video game was an R-rated version of The Avengers, Russo has since reassured fans that the film will still indeed b R-rated and feature the game’s iconic fatalities. Plot details remain under wraps.
James Wan will produce the new Mortal Kombat movie through his Atomic Monster banner along with Todd Garner. Larry Kasanoff, E. Bennett Walsh, Michael Clear, and Sean Robins are serving as executive producers.
Mortal Kombat is one of the most successful video game franchises of all time and the feature film adaptation that was released in 1995 is still regarded as one of the best video game adaptations in history. But after the sequel Mortal Kombat: Annihilation was poorly received, the mega-franchise stalled out and the fighting game hasn’t been quite as popular, however, Mortal Kombat 11 released this past April to become the most successful launch in the franchise’s history.
