Joel Edgerton might return as Uncle Owen in the Star Wars universe for Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
Ewan McGregor might not be the only actor from the Star Wars prequels returning for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series when it arrives on Disney Plus. Joel Edgerton might show up as Owen Lars in the show at some point. Star Wars fans will obviously remember Joel Edgerton appeared as the young version of Owen Lars on Tattooine at the end of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. He and Beru Lars adopted Luke Skywalker as a baby when Obi-Wan Kenobi brought him to the couple after Padme’s death.
Josh Horowitz recently spoke to Joel Edgerton about his role in The King, but also asked about whether he’d appear in the Star Wars universe again during the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Apparently Joel Edgerton was evasive about the role, with Horowitz deducing that the actor would be returning alongside Ewan McGregor. Take a look at what Horowitz had to say below.
Caught up with Joel Edgerton today (check out THE KING! I really enjoyed). I have almost no doubt based on his coy evasiveness that he will be in the Obi Wan Disney+ series. I’ve seen many an actor playfully evade. I’m placing a big bet that Owen will be back.

If Joel Edgerton returns to Star Wars in Obi-Wan Kenobi, does that mean we’ll see a young Luke Skywalker too? Would you like to see Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi meet the young hero? Let us know in the comments!
Disney’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series featuring Ewan McGregor will be the mouse house’s third live-action Star Wars series for Disney Plus. First up is The Mandalorian which will feature Pedro Pascal as a lone gunslinger after the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. The series, which hails from Jon Favreau, also stars Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog, and Nick Nolte. The Mandalorian premieres November 12 on Disney Plus.
Following The Mandalorian, Diego Luna will reprise his Rogue One: A Star Wars Story role as Cassian Andor in a prequel series which will follow the Rebel spy working as an intelligence operative during the formative years of the Rebel Alliance. Stephen Schiff (The Americans) is serving as showrunner. Production on the project is set to begin next year after the actor completes his work on the second season of Narcos: Mexico.
