A new clip from John Cena’s new HBO Max series Peacemaker finds him dissing Aquaman.
It’s hard to believe that we are already about a month and a half away from seeing Peacemaker premiere on HBO Max. The upcoming series, which serves as a sequel to James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad will follow John Cena’s Christopher Smith AKA Peacemaker after the events of the film on his newest mission.
A brand new clip from the new series dropped earlier this weekend. In this clip, we see John Cena’s Peacemaker recovered from his injuries in the hospital, where he is talking to a janitor. The janitor starts roasting him over the fact that he’s not really a superhero, and compares him unfavorably to Aquaman, which enrages him.

This Peacemaker clip is yet another showcase of the irreverent humor of James Gunn. While we got hints of it through the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, The Suicide Squad and now Peacemaker look to embrace his style of humor that was seen in his earlier work such as Slither, Super and his time at Troma Entertainment. With John Cena as his vessel here, it’s fun to see him in a big role like this – and to hear him diss Aquaman is just purely hilarious.
Peacemaker was created by James Gunn, who wrote all the episodes and directed five of them. The first season will consist of eight episodes, with Brad Anderson, Jody Hill and Rosemary Rodriguez also directing episodes. Clint Mansell and Kevin Kiner will compose the score.
Peacemaker stars John Cena, Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma and Chukwudi Iwuji.
Peacemaker premieres on HBO Max on January 13, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming John Cena series, the future of Aquaman in the DCEU and more, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more content!
