Is Superman making his way to the small screen in Peacemaker? John Cena reveals how his viral picture with David Corenswet ACTUALLY came to be.
With Peacemaker entering its final stretch, there’s been a lot of speculation about what the last three episodes of the season will hold. James Gunn has teased that some major cameos are in store for the project. And while plenty of names have been floated, such as Idris Elba’s Bloodsport and Xolo Maridueña’s Blue Beetle, perhaps the biggest name on fans’ minds is David Corenswet’s Superman.
There’s a lot of signs pointing to David Corenswet appearing in Peacemaker season 2, such as the show’s thematic ties to “being a hero” and the appearance of the Justice Gang from Superman. However, perhaps the most damming piece of evidence that fans have been using is a recently viral photo showing David Corenswet and John Cena together- both in their costumes from their most recent DC Universe projects.
Is Superman In Peacemaker Season 2?
In fact, this photo went so viral that John Cena actually responded to it during a recent interview with GQ magazine. The actor was asked how the image with Peacemaker and Superman ultimately came to be. And it seems as though the answer was simple: he simply wanted to meet David Corenswet during the production of Superman!
“Well, I won’t bury the lead, you’re talking to the wrong guy because, man, I could write my own story of where I think it’s going and all that does is set up expectations that might not be met. And that’s just not something that I do in life. I can tell you the story behind David and I, and that photo where I’m dressed as Peacemaker, is I knew that they were finishing up filming Superman and I desperately wanted to meet David.”
“I wanted to meet the new Superman and just lend my services, like, ‘Hey, man, your life is about to change and I’ve heard that you’ve been doing an incredible job. I want to thank you because if you suck, that means DC sucks, which means we got a bigger hole to dig out of. So thank you so much for giving this your all. As someone who has been far more exposed to the media than I have formal acting training, if I can help you in any way, please, here’s my number, let me know.'”
Of course, this story doesn’t exactly line up with what fans see from the photo. If John Cena did simply want to meet David Corenswet while production was wrapping up on Superman, why are they both in costume? And, in John Cena’s case, why does he still have blood on his face from what was clearly a recently filmed scene? While it’s possible all of these could be explained, fans should still keep their eyes peeled as Peacemaker wraps up season 2.
