‘Doctor Strange 2’ Producer Reveals John Krasinski’s Reed Richards Used Doctor Doom’s Tech

Mr Fantastic got hold of a Doctor Doom invention!

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a film rich with Marvel easter eggs and producer Richie Palmer has revealed one regarding Doctor Doom, which fans may have missed.

One of the biggest surprises Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness delivered was the introduction of John Krasinski as the Reed Richards of Earth-838. Fans have been clamoring to see Krasinski play the role of Reed Richards for years and so the film delivered in a big way when he made a surprise appearance as a member of that Earth’s Illuminati. However, the scene also included a subtle nod to the Fantastic Four’s archnemesis in Reed’s arrival.

Doctor Doom’s Time Platform

John Krasinski’s Reed Richards is not present when Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange is first brought before the Illuminati of Earth-838. Instead, the character teleports into the Illuminati’s chamber when he is announced by Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Master Mordo. Now, Richie Palmer, one of the film’s producers, Richie Palmer has revealed that Reed’s teleportation tech came from Doctor Victor Von Doom.

In the film’s audio commentary, Richie Palmer reveals that Reed Richards’ teleportation technology was taken straight out of the pages of Marvel’s comics and is, in fact, Doctor Doom’s Time Platform:

“The detail of the teleportation device he uses to get into the scene is something we took from the comics, that’s Doctor Doom’s Time Platform.”

As its name may suggest, the Time Platform was invented by Doctor Doom to allow him to travel through time. In the comics, the Time Platform has allowed the Fantastic Four to encounter Rama-Tut, one of Kang the Conqueror’s various identities. One of Kang’s various personas – He Who Remains – was introduced in Loki, with Kang himself due to appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. With the Fantastic Four of the MCU’s main universe set to make their debut soon as well, maybe the Time Platform will see more use in future – or past – battles against Kang.
