The first reactions to Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder have landed online following the film’s red carpet premiere.

Thor: Love and Thunder sees Chris Hemsworth return to the MCU as Thor Odinson, but this time around he’s not the only Thor on the block. Natalie Portman reprises the role of Jane Foster, who has been transformed into the Mighty Thor, wielding a restored Mjolnir. The film had its red carpet premiere last night, June 23, and initial responses have been overwhelmingly positive with many calling the film one of Marvel’s best so far. Check out some of the reactions below.

Your New Favorite ‘Thor’ Movie?

After a relatively lacklustre start in the MCU, Thor has gone on to become the only Avenger to get four standalone movies. That is in large part due to the talents of director Taika Waititi, who reimagined the character and injected fresh color, comedy and fun into the franchise. Waititi returns to direct Thor: Love and Thunder, which not only reunites Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster, but sees Thor joining forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy and introduces Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher to the MCU.

Here is the synopsis for Thor: Love and Thunder:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.
