Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness made John Krasinski’s Reed Richards the first Fantastic Four character to enter the MCU, but the logo on his costume has been seen before.
Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four, previously a Fox property until Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, was announced during 2019’s San Diego Comic-Con. In 2010, the logo for the project was revealed. So far, this has been the only glimpse fans have had of the upcoming MCU film. However, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness saw John Krasinski enter the MCU as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic of Earth-838.
While it is still unclear whether Krasinski will also play the MCU’s primary Reed Richards, his costume may have hinted at a close connection the MCU’s Earth-616 Fantastic Four.
Reed Richards Across The Multiverse
John Krasinski’s appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness came as a shock to fans. The actor has long been a fan-favorite choice for the role of Reed Richards. While he may or may not return to play the part in Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four, it appears his costume was designed with that movie in mind.
The previously revealed logo for Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four is identical to the one worn by John Krasinski in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, suggesting this version of Mr. Fantastic is not too far removed from Earth-616’s Reed Richards. Check out the comparison below and note how both fours share the same pointy design, the same slight slant, and in both cases the top and left-hand side of the number protrude through the logo’s circle outline:
Whoever plays Reed Richards in Fantastic Four will probably not be wearing the same costume that was seen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – not only do Marvel characters’ costumes undergo regular upgrades, but all of the Earth-838 costumes were in some way different to their Earth-616 counterparts. Mr. Fantastic is unlikely to be the exception to this rule. However, it looks likely the character will be sporting the same emblem as seen in the Doctor Strange sequel.
