Production on Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films’ upcoming standalone Joker film starring Academy Award-nominee Joaquin Phoenix is currently in production, and as filming continues, more information from the set continues to leak. Now, it looks like Joker is preparing a set in Astoria Bank under the working title “Romeo”.
This is likely to set up a bank robbery scene for the Clown Prince of Crime to be involved with. Bank robberies are common in stories featuring the Joker – the opening scene of The Dark Knight obviously comes to mind. It is going to be interesting to see how director Todd Phillips imagines his version of Gotham City many years before Bruce Wayne becomes Batman.
What do you make of this information? What type of bank robbery scene will this new film portray? Now that we have had a good sample size from set photos, what do you make of Joaquin Phoenix in the Joker makeup and costume? Sound off in the comments below, and be sure to continue following Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news about this upcoming film as well as the new slate of DC Films.
Here is the synopsis:
Joker centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
Directed by Todd Phillips, Joker will be released on October 4, 2019. The cast currently includes Joaquin Phoenix, Marc Maron, Glenn Fleshler, Shea Whigham, Zazie Beetz, Robert De Niro, Frances Conroy, Josh Pais, and Brett Cullen.
Joker is set to be released on October 4th of 2019.
