Many new Joker set photos have been released and they feature plenty of Joaquin Phoenix’s titular Clown Prince of Crime, as well as fellow Gothamites wearing clown masks.
Joker is a solo movie showing the origins of the titular DC villain, played by Joaquin Phoenix, which will have nothing to do with the current DC Extended Universe canon. Many set photos have been released from the movie since it began filming. Fans have seen plenty of shots of Phoenix as the Joker, as well as his alter ego Arthur Fleck. The latest set photos feature closer looks at Joker, Fleck on the subway, and mask-wearing Gothamites looking to stir up some chaos.
When Joker began filming, set photos released showed a sequence in which Phoenix’s Joker leaves a crowded subway train, as a mob of clown mask-wearing Gothamites flooded out of the train car to attack an unknown man. The latest batch of set photos may or may not be from the same sequence, there’s no way of telling for sure, but you’ll be able to get a closer look Phoenix and his followers seen in the previous photos. Story details about Joker have remained under wraps but from the look of the set photos, Arthur Fleck is going to be a broken man whose influence on the city could have some pretty scary repercussions. The film is set to hit theaters one year from now and it will be interesting to see how the box office numbers compare to that of Venom, which recently broke the record for the highest opening weekend in October.

“Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
Directed by Todd Phillips from a script he co-wrote with Scott Silver, Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais, Shea Whigham, and Robert De Niro.
Joker will be released in theaters on October 4, 2019.
