Will Daredevil: Born Again do the Netflix series honor? The Punisher actor Jon Bernthal hypes up the upcoming Disney Plus reboot of the iconic show.
Ever since it was announced that Daredevil: Born Again would be going through a creative reboot to bring the series more in line with the Netflix show, fans have been worried about how much the show could truly match the tone of the original Daredevil. However, it seems at least one person is confident it’ll live up to the legacy. When speaking of the Disney Plus show, Bernthal said it takes everything a step further than the original.
“Genuine, genuine excitement,” Bernthal spoke at D23 when asked how he felt about the outpouring of love for his return as The Punisher. “I think if you’re a fan of the show that you saw before, you’re going to be a fan of this. I think we’re just taking it a step further. We’re all here, we’re all enormously happy to be with each other. We’re proud of what we did, and I think if you’re a fan of the show, you’re going to be enormously happy.”
It’s a relief to hear that the creative overhaul for Daredevil: Born Again seemed to work out in the end. Especially given how much the Disney Plus team was seemingly forced to reuse for time and budget constraints, the fact that Jon Bernthal thinks it surpasses the Netflix Daredevil in any way is an impressive mark for the cast and crew to hit.
Jon Bernthal Speaks On Daredevil Cast Reunion
Daredevil: Born Again isn’t just bringing the show back for fans. It also reunites everyone who worked on the original Netflix series (at least, in front of the camera!). When speaking on his return as The Punisher, Jon Bernthal admitted it was a rare pleasre to be able to work with the cast again when making the Disney Plus show.
“I mean, I don’t think we thought it was going to happen,” Bernthal said. “You know, usually, when you finish a job, maybe you work together again, but not usually. So, to kind of be able to come back to relationships, especially friendships and professional relationships that you really enjoy, is rare.”
While Marvel fans have taken the idea of old stars returning in new projects, Jon Bernthal is right that it’s a rarity for any story to continue past its original run in Hollywood. That goes to show just how popular Netflix’s Daredevil was that Marvel felt they had to throw a lot of a project out to do the series justice with Daredevil: Born Again. And, more importantly, how much it meant to fans.
Daredevil: Born Again will release in March 2025 on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
