Although there are three Disney live-action remakes being released this year, this spot for Lion King further proves that the film will be very different from any other Disney movie releasing this year, as well as from any other version of this story including the animated sequels The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride and The Lion King 1 1/2. The franchise has also recently been revived in the form of the animated TV series The Lion Guard, which premiered on Disney Junior back in 2015 with an animated film that served as its pilot, before eventually continuing on as a full series in 2016.
