Early set photos from Creed III show Michael B. Jordan directing new co-star Jonathan Majors.
The images, released by Letterboxd on Twitter, show a shirtless Jonathan Majors arriving on the Creed III set and he has clearly been putting the work in to get himself into fighting shape. Majors is playing the antagonist in the upcoming third installment of the Rocky spin-off series, opposite Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis Creed. The film also marks Jordan’s directorial debut, seeing him take on a key role behind the camera as well as in front of it.
The new images appear to show Michael B. Jordan settling into his directing role as he meets with his co-star, Majors, who looks like he’s just completed his own real-life Rocky training montage. Although no plot details have been confirmed and nothing is known about Majors’ character as of yet, he’s certainly looking ready to jump into the ring with Creed. While Majors has always been in good shape throughout his previous acting work, it’s clear he has bulked up to go toe-to-toe with Jordan’s boxing lead. Check out the new images below.
Creed III will also mark the first film in the franchise not to feature Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa, setting up Michael B. Jordan’s Creed to take on his new opponent without the help of his renowned mentor.
This isn’t the only antagonist Jonathan Majors is playing right now, either. After appearing as the sinister He Who Remains in last year’s Loki on Disney Plus, Majors is due to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in next year’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, as the character’s more villainous variant, Kang the Conqueror. Perhaps Jordan, who played Killmonger in Black Panther, can give him a few pointers between takes on Creed III.
Here is the synopsis for the previous film in the franchise, Creed II:
Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. Facing an opponent with ties to his family’s past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring. Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what’s worth fighting for, and discover that nothing’s more important than family. Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place, and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can’t escape your history.
Directed by Steven Caple Jr. from a script written by Cheo Hodari Coker and Sylvester Stallone, Creed II stars Sylvester Stallone, Michael B Jordan, Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, Dolph Lundgren, Wood Harris, Andre Ward, and Buddy Marcelle.
Creed II is available on DVD, Blu-Ray, and Digital HD. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Michael B Jordan’s Creed III, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more video content.
