Is Jonathan Majors actually headed back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? The Creed star reveals that he’s willing to return to some of his most iconic roles following his legal troubles.
The Jonathan Majors situation was one of the most shocking stories to hit the world of cinema in a long time. The actor was on top of the world, rocketing up to being the new “IT Man” in Hollywood following being cast as Kang the Conqueror in the MCU. He also landed a highly coveted role in the Creed franchise, playing what was set to be a new face of the series alongside Michael B. Jordan. And with his awards season vehicle Magazine Dreams on the horizon, nothing seemed able to stop him.
This meteoric rise came to an abrupt stop in 2023 when Jonathan Majors was arrested in New York on charges of assault and strangulation from his partner. The actor was subsequently dropped by the MCU and most of his team in December of that year when Majors was found guilty of his charges. Since then, Majors has mostly kept his head low, chugging along and only making a scant few public appearances.
Will Jonathan Majors Return To The MCU?
In recent weeks, Jonathan Majors has taken a few tiny steps to return to the spotlight. Magazine Dreams is finally set to release in theaters, and Michael B. Jordan has been open about his willingness to work alongside him again in the Creed series. This left many wondering if Majors had any plans to return to either of his major franchise roles, specifically if he was going to try to wrestle his way back into the MCU. When asked about the prospect, Majors admitted he’d be open to it, even if he’s a different man now than he was then.
“Yes. Yes, to both,” Majors told Entertainment Weekly. “The version of me that would come back to those places, though, would be different. I don’t think anything different would happen between ‘action’ and ‘cut.’ That’s why I got the job. But there would be something different about it if I were to come back, and I would like that. But as I said, it’s not in my control.”
Even though Jonathan Majors is open to returning, and there are plenty of fans and friends supporting him in his journey back to the limelight, there’s no denying that the actor is a public relations landmine. While it’s certainly possible that Majors appears in some form in the Creed films, all signs point to Marvel having “no interest” in bringing him back to the MCU as Kang the Conqueror.
