‘Judge Dredd: Mega-City One’ Producer Wants Karl Urban Back

The producer of Judge Dredd: Mega-City One has claimed that if the stars align, then Karl Urban could reprise his role as Judge Joseph Dredd.

Judge Dredd Karl Urban
Actor Karl Urban, who played Judge Dredd in Dredd, has been one of the biggest advocates for a follow-up to the cult classic superhero movie, and as such he’s said that he’d love to reprise the role if he possibly can. Well, it looks like the people behind the upcoming Judge Dredd: Mega-City One agree, and they want him back if he can fit the show into his schedule.

In a recent episode of the 2000 AD Thrill-Cast (hat tip Screen Rant), Mega-City One producer Brian Jenkins revealed that he and the rest of the crew are completely on-board with Karl Urban making a return as the incorruptible-if-brutal law enforcer:

“We have had many conversations prior to this, about all sorts of things. He’s also very busy, a full-time professional actor. So we’re going to have some long and complicated conversations I would imagine, and we’ll see where we go. It’s too early to tell yet, but if we can use him and he’s available to us, then I think that would be absolutely brilliant. There’s always a possibility he will be busy, or that his schedule for other movies won’t allow- basically, we don’t know at this stage.”

Fans wanted a TV sequel to Dredd, and while it isn’t clear whether or not the show is set in the same version of the Judge Dredd continuity that we saw in that film, they might get their wish as far as far as seeing more of Urban as the man who is the law.
