Fans can now get their best look yet at the Ares costume used in the 2017 DC team-up movie, Justice League.

Wonder Woman’s (Gal Gadot) clash with Ares at the end of her 2017 solo movie became a divided sequence when the film hit theaters. While some fans loved the final fight, others felt like the showdown was something out of a lesser Marvel movie. That wasn’t the last time Ares appeared in the DC Extended Universe though. As you can see in the picture above, Ares the God of War also made an appearance in Justice League.

It was only a brief appearance but featured a drastically different looking Ares than fans saw in Wonder Woman. He appeared alongside other heroes such as Zeus and Green Lantern. If you were itching to get a closer look at that Ares costume then today is your lucky day. Justice League stunt performer Nick McKinless, who has worked on almost a hundred films including Captain America: The First Avenger and Beauty and the Beast, recently released a close-up image of Ares via his Instagram account. Check out the awesome behind-the-scenes image below.

You may also know McKinless as a stunt performer on the iconic Game of Thrones episode titled The Mountain and the Viper, which coincidentally featured the demise of a character played by Wonder Woman 1984 star Pedro Pascal. It seems like this may be the last appearance of Ares that fans will see on the big screen for some time, but it’s possible that he could return in Wonder Woman 1984. Though that would be unlikely, the DCEU could pull that surprise whenever they want, similarly to how the Marvel Cinematic Universe brought back Red Skull nearly ten years after his last appearance in the franchise.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Justice League and the entire DCEU franchise as soon as more information becomes available. What are your thoughts on the image above?
