‘Justice League’ Director Zack Snyder Reveals The One Film He’d Return To DC Studios For

The only condition!

Fans have been calling for Justice League director Zack Snyder to restore the so-called “SnyderVerse” ever since he stepped away from the DC Universe. According to the director, there’s only one project that could make him return to DC Studios.

After the disaster that was the production of Justice League, it seems as though Zack Snyder is settling nicely into his new home at Netflix. However, with James Gunn and Peter Safran set to reboot the DC Universe, many people wonder if Snyder would return to direct any projects. According to the director, the only project he’d return to DC Studios for is a faithful adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns, as revealed in a recent profile from The Hollywood Reporter.

For as much as some fans like to draw battle lines between Zack Snyder and the new James Gunn and Peter Safran regime at DC Studios, it’s clear the Justice League director has made his peace with his time helming the DC Universe. While it likely won’t come to pass anytime soon, fans can only hope the bridge gets mended one day for him to tackle a true adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns.

The SnyderVerse era is over for now

The term “SnyderVerse” refers to the interconnected film universe that Zack Snyder created, which began with Man of Steel and continued with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. Those plans have been scrapped in favor of an interconnected DC Universe consisting of film, television, animation and video game projects, with James Gunn and Peter Safran at the helm.

Despite its mixed reception, the SnyderVerse has a dedicated fanbase that appreciates Zack Snyder’s DC Universe vision. Fans have praised the SnyderVerse films for their darker tone and mature storytelling. They have also criticized Warner Bros. and DC’s interference with Snyder’s DCU plans, which they believe resulted in the lackluster final product of Justice League.

In 2021, Zack Snyder released his four-hour-long Justice League cut on the WarnerMedia streaming service HBO Max. His version of Justice League was well received by fans and critics alike, who praised its improvement over the original version of the movie, which was overseen by Joss Whedon. The release of the Snyder Cut has reignited interest in the SnyderVerse and sparked speculation about its future.
