‘Justice League’: Ray Fisher Says Zack Snyder Shot Enough Footage To Make Two Movies

Cyborg actor Ray Fisher feels that Justice League director Zack Snyder shot enough footage for the superhero epic to make two movies, not just the one that hit theaters almost a year ago.

While Snyder stepped down from his role on the project, turning over directorial duties to Joss Whedon, the former Marvel director was said to be directing additional photography as well as overseeing the post-production process in an effort to maintain Snyder’s original vision. However, what was seen in the film’s marketing differed vastly from the theatrical cut. While we may never know what Snyder intended for the film and the future of the DC cinematic universe, there’s been enough glimpses of deleted scenes, concept art, and talk of entire story arcs being cut from the film that it’s clear the film is missing quite a bit.

Speaking at Heroes and Villains Fan Fest New Jersey last month, Fisher revealed that Snyder shot enough footage for two movies while sharing what he felt the director had planned for his character and the franchise as a whole:

“We’re not finished just yet, so I don’t know how specific the ‘end result’ is. But what I will say is Zack had very specific plans for Cyborg, and for his trajectory. And Zack probably shot enough footage in the first film to make like two movies out of. He definitely had a whole, I believe, a trilogy in mind, with respect to Justice League. And if his vision had sort of come to fruition, Cyborg would have probably been one of, if not the most powerful, metahuman in the entire canon, in the film universe. And that’s just one of the crazy things about Zack, is that he can take someone who’s such a newcomer and evolve their powers to the point where, you know, Cyborg is like ‘S tier.'”

Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash, Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg, Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Ciaran Hinds as Steppenwolf, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Amber Heard as Mera, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner James Gordon, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.

“Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.”

Justice League is available now on Digital HD, 4K, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
