‘Justice League’: Zack Snyder Posts First Look At Commissioner Gordon

Along with his recently posted Commissioner Gordon-eqsue pose, Zack Snyder has just posted a first official look at J.K. Simmons as the real Commissioner Gordon from Justice League.

Check it out below:

J.K. Simmons will be playing Gordon, who is a staple of the Batman franchise and was last portrayed by Gary Oldman in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. Simmons is not new to the superhero genre, as he famously played J. Jonah Jameson in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy as well.

It appears Snyder posted the image to celebrate #BatmanDay, the national social media holiday that celebrates anything and everything having to do with the Caped Crusader. This is surely one awesome way to do it. Simmons will be introduced in Justice League and will reprise his role in the upcoming Ben Affleck directed solo Batman movies coming to the DCEU as well.

Now, we just eagerly await for Ben Affleck or Joe Manganiello to share some cool #BatmanDay updates.

Are you excited to see Simmons tackle the role of Commissioner Gordon is Justice League? Sound off in the comments.

Justice League: Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy.  Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat.  But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Jack of some trades, master of some others. That saying never really made a lot of sense to me.

I know it’s from dark knight returns but I hate that bat symbol.

    • Axxell

      It’s like a fat bat.

    • Matches Malone

Yeah. I hate when they insert the films “branding” into the bat-signal. Just like in the TDK triliogy there is no need for it and it comes off a bit silly. I liked the approach in with the 89 signal that embraces the more timeless and traditional look to the bat-signal

      • SAMURAI36

What does that even mean? Each Batman film goes with the brand at the time, so as to differentiate it from the previous branding.

Why would the Bat symbol look different from the version on Batman’s chest in each film? The ’89 symbol was appropriate, because that was the symbol used during that time.

Just say that you only prefer the early symbol; trying to justify why the others used the appropriate versions, makes YOU sound a “bit silly”.

        • Fenix

I don’t only prefer the other symbols, I just really hate that fat bat symbol.

        • Matches Malone

The traditional bat-signal from the comics has always followed the circular shape of the signal. It was the case in all 4 original films and even 66. Only TDK trilogy and now this has adopted the chest/marketing logo for the symbol

    Nice. Can’t wait.

Why does everybody hate on that bat emblem, I like it, along with the stubby ears lol

      • SAMURAI36

I’ll admit, I didn’t like it at first (chalk it up to decades with the more streamlined version), but it’s definitely grown on me.

        • Chris Schroeder

My only “gripe” with any of the symbols in the DCEU is the fact Lex apparently created them (aside from batman’s, and WW seeing as she’s been active since WWI here) seeing as his computer file had all of their actual logo’s before they even were active

          • SAMURAI36

            I’ve never understood that argument,

In the WW photo, we can see WW’s logo on her skirt. There’s her logo.

In the Flash vid, we see lightning all over the place. There’s his logo.

In the Aquman footage, you can see the “V” on his, uhmmm…. Belt buckle, LOL

In the Star Labs scene, when the box takes over Vic, you can see the “C” emblem (which is actually a cog, with the red light in the middle) forming on his torso.

All Luthor did, was take the most prominent thing in those footages, and make them the epitome of the file.

How could he make a logo for WW and AM especially, that was already there?

          • Chris Schroeder

No I totally tunderatand the WW one. It’s on her in that picture with Steve Trevor from WWI. But just because there’s lightning around Barry doesn’t automatically translate to his legit comic book symbol which winds up on his uniform, you know?

          • SAMURAI36

Not sure why the lightning symbol is such an issue. In the video, all we see is lightning in the convenient store. It’s the most prominent thing in the video, more so than the unassuming man in the video himself.

Justice League. Commissioner Gordon. Nothing but smiles here.

“Miss Brant, give this man his money and throw in a bar of soap!”
