Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy provided an update on the Rangers of the New Republic Star Wars series that was reportedly shelved.

Given the massive success of The Mandalorian, Lucasfilm is developing several spin-off shows, with The Book of Boba Fett kicking things off next month. An Ahsoka Tano series starring Rosario Dawson is also in the works after her live-action debut in The Mandalorian season two. The other spin-off series that was announced was titled Rangers of the New Republic, with many believing the Star Wars series would follow Gina Carano’s Cara Dune before she was removed.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Rangers of the New Republic was no longer in active development. Now, Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy revealed to Empire where The Mandalorian spin-off stands:

“We’d never written any scripts or anything on that. Some of that will figure into future episodes, I’m sure, of Mandalorian.”

Here is the synopsis for the next Disney Plus Star Wars series, The Book of Boba Fett:

The Book of Boba Fett, a thrilling Star Wars adventure, finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the Galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.

Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Robert Rodriguez, and Kathleen Kennedy are executive producers on The Mandalorian spin-off with episodes directed by Rodriguez, Favreau, Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard, Steph Green, and Kevin Tancharoen. The series stars Temuera Morrison, Ming-Na Wen, and Jennifer Beals.

The Book of Boba Fett will arrive on December 29 on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the future of the Star Wars franchise on Disney Plus and the big screen. You can also subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content!
