An awesome new fan-poster for The Matrix 4 depicts Keanu Reeves ready to step back into the role of Neo, the chosen one.
Keanu Reeves has recently had a resurgence in pop culture due to films like John Wick and Always Be My Maybe as well as the upcoming video game Cyberpunk 2077. But the role most fans are eager to see him return to is Neo for The Matrix 4. With the recent news that Aquaman actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II would be joining Keanu Reeves for the sequel, fans have been wildly speculating about what his casting means for the plot and where The Matrix 4 would find Neo. This fan poster pictures Keanu Reeves as Neo stepping out of The Matrix‘s iconic code.
This concept for The Matrix 4 created by Instagram artist “hjxart” shows off Neo emerging from The Matrix code while putting on his signature sunglasses. The artwork imagines Keanu Reeves with his longer hair and beard, suggesting that this is an older and wiser version of Neo. So I rewatched the whole Matrix trilogy and the sequels are actually a lot better than I remember – Reloaded has some of the most under-appreciated scenes in film and Revolutions has real Lord of the Rings vibes to it. So yeah, I’m pretty hyped about the Matrix 4. Here’s another poster I made for it.
Do you want to see Keanu Reeves return to play Neo in The Matrix 4? Do you think the film should even exist? Sound-off in the comments!
The fate of Keanu Reeves’ Neo in the original Matrix films was left somewhat ambiguous. After a long battle with Hugo Weaving’s Agent Smith, Neo allows him to turn him into one of his clones. Immediately after, the creators of The Matrix send a surge of energy through Neo’s body that allows them to destroy Agent Smith and all of his clones. It was not made clear if Keanu Reeves’ Neo survived the ordeal.
The Matrix and its two sequels collectively earned a total of $1.6 billion at the worldwide box office. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss portrayed Neo and Trinity, respectively, in all three chapters of the Matrix film series, each of which were directed by Lana and Lilly Wachowski.
Directed by Lana Wachowski, who co-wrote the script with Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchel, The Matrix 4 is set to star Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. The Matrix 4 is reportedly eyeing an early 2020 production start date with Lana Wachowski also serving as a producer alongside Grant Hill.
