The working title of The Matrix 4 starring Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss has been revealed.
Last month, Warner Bros. announced that The Matrix 4 is officially a go, with Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity, respectively. The Matrix co-creator Lana Wachowski is directing the project.
Now, Production Weekly has revealed that the working title of The Matrix 4 is “Project Ice Cream.” The site also adds that production is expected to begin in February 2020, with Chicago being the primary filming location.
The fate of Keanu Reeves’ Neo in the original Matrix films was left somewhat ambiguous. After a long battle with Hugo Weaving’s Agent Smith, Neo allows him to turn him into one of his clones. Immediately after, the creators of The Matrix send a surge of energy through Neo’s body that allows them to destroy Agent Smith and all of his clones. It was not made clear if Keanu Reeves’ character survived the ordeal.
The original Matrix and its two sequels collectively earned a total of $1.6 billion at the worldwide box office. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss portrayed their respective characters in all three chapters of the Matrix film series, each one directed by Lana and Lilly Wachowski.
Lana Wachowski is writing the script of The Matrix 4 with Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchel. In addition to writing and directing The Matrix 4, Wachowski will also produce the project alongside Grant Hill.
The Matrix 4 does not yet have a release date. Stay tune for the latest news on the upcoming movie with Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss!
