Kevin Feige Says ‘Black Widow’ Prequel Will Answer Unexpected MCU Questions

Kevin Feige recently shared that the upcoming Black Widow prequel will answer MCU questions you never thought to ask.

Despite no official slate announcement from Marvel Studios, it is well known that a Black Widow solo film is coming and is currently filming. Little is known about Black Widow, but the character died in Avengers: Endgame, leaving many to assume that the solo film will be a prequel. While speaking to iO9, Kevin Feige confirmed that the Black Widow film will indeed be a prequel and teased there will still be lots of MCU surprises in store:

“There’s a method to the madness. There’s always a method and doing things in an unexpected way is something we find fun. There are ways to do prequels that are less informative or answer questions you didn’t necessarily have, and then there are ways to do prequels where you learn all sorts of things you never knew before.”

Over the years, prequels have been hit or miss, but Kevin Feige compared Black Widow to a recently successful one:

“I look at Better Call Saul as a wonderful example of a prequel that almost completely stands on its own apart from Breaking Bad because it informs you about so many things you didn’t know about before. So time will tell which way we’ve gone with a supposed Black Widow movie.”

What kind of MCU surprises do you think will be in the film? Sound off in the comments below!

Directed by By Cate Shortland from a script written by Ned Benson and Jac Schaeffer, Black Widow stars Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, and O-T Fagbenle. The Favourite star Rachel Weisz is reportedly circling a “key role” in the film.
