Fox Exec Forced To Give Control Of Deadpool & Marvel Properties To Kevin Feige

20th Century Fox Film vice chairman Emma Watts might be staying on board of Fox’s film division, but the executive had to turn over control of Deadpool and other Marvel characters to Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, Deadline reports.

According to the trade, Watts had to turn Deadpool and other Marvel characters over to Kevin Feige but was incentivized to stay at Fox in order to oversee James Cameron’s upcoming Avatar sequels. Recent rumors pointed to Watts reuniting with Jim Gianopulos at Paramount, but this no longer seems to be the case.

It was originally assumed Watts would be moving over to Disney, with control of Deadpool as part of her package deal, but she’ll instead remain at Fox and key to Disney’s relationship with Cameron.

Deadpool’s future at Disney remains unknown. Kevin Feige recently denied the rumors that Deadpool would make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Sony’s next Spider-Man film.

Although it isn’t clear when or even how we could see Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool make his debut in the MCU, Kevin Feige has confirmed that the studio will not be changing anything about Ryan Reynolds’ take on the character even with Disney acquiring 21st Century Fox’s assets.

Are you hoping for an update on Deadpool 3 soon? How do you think Deadpool will join the MCU? Or could he remain separate? Let us know below!
