Will Blade be bloody?

Is Marvel actually going to do Blade justice? Kevin Feige gives his thoughts on if the reboot will end up being Rated R like many fans want.

It’s not a secret that Marvel’s Blade reboot has had a rough history. Kevin Feige first decided to make their plans for the film public all the way back in 2019. Mahershala Ali was set to star as the iconic daywalker, which gave many fans a hope that the project will live up to the lofty bar set by the original film starring Wesley Snipes.

Since then, Blade has gotten nothing but bad news. The reboot lost writers left and right. Multiple stars, including fan-favorite Aaron Pierre, have been let go of the project amid rewrites. Kevin Feige and his crew couldn’t even keep on a director as Yann Demange left the film back in June.

Kevin Feige Reveals His Hopes For Blade

Despite all these troubles, Kevin Feige still feels optimistic about Blade. In a recent interview, the Marvel Studios president admits that they’ve had trouble cracking the film, but are dedicated to doing the character right. Which includes making sure it’s Rated R.

For the last few years, we’ve been trying to crack that movie,” Feige told BlackTreeTV. “I think the most important think for us, is not rushing it and making sure that we’re making the right Blade movie because there were some great Blade movies years ago and they were all R-rated. So I think that’s inherent-  like Deadpool, inherent with the character of Blade. “

It’s interesting to hear that Kevin Feige thinks being Rated R is inherent to a character like Blade. While violence is often associated with his character, Marvel has had plenty of PG stories starring the dhampir. However, most fans likely consider this a massive win for the reboot, especially one that’s been through so much trouble.
