Speaking on a Disney panel at CinemaCon, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed that planning is about to begin for the next ten years of Marvel movies.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is showing no signs of slowing down. The recent introduction of several MCU streaming series on Disney Plus, which have been more closely connected to Marvel’s theatrical releases than their previous TV shows, has only helped fuel the expansion of Marvel’s interconnected universe. Now, Kevin Feige, the chief creative officer of Marvel Entertainment and president of Marvel Studios, has revealed work is about to begin on Marvel’s plans for the next decade.
During a Disney panel at CinemaCon, Kevin Feige revealed that straight after the convention he would be heading to a creative retreat with the Marvel Studios team to begin planning Marvel’s next ten years of content. Marvel Studios has already announced MCU projects releasing between now and the end of 2023 and possibly a little bit beyond – no release dates have been confirmed for projects such as Fantastic Four or Blade yet. However, audiences have so far had little indication of what Marvel’s post-Endgame long-term plans might involve. Recent releases could indicate there is likely to be more travel through time and the multiverse, but it sounds like Marvel Studios’ next masterplan will be finalized in the coming days.
Marvel Studios’ next theatrical release is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Here is the official synopsis:
The MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.
Directed by Sam Raimi from a script written by Michael Waldron, the film stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, with Michael Stuhlbarg, Rachel McAdams, and Patrick Stewart.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6, 2022. Meanwhile, the first Season of Loki is now streaming on Disney Plus, with Season 2 currently in development.
