Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has confirmed Spider-Man: Far From Home will end the third phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While Avengers: Endgame was thought to be the end of the MCU’s third phase before Marvel Studios kicked off the next phase with the upcoming Spider-Man sequel in July, Kevin Feige has now revealed this is not the case. Speaking at the Shangai fan event for Avengers: Endgame, Kevin Feige revealed the new Spider-Man film which features Tom Holland reprising his role as the web-slinger will, in fact, serve as the ending of the MCU’s third phase:
“It’s the end of the third phase.”
This leaves it up to Spider-Man: Far From Home to give fans an idea as what to expect from the MCU going forward in the film’s post-credits scenes. Plot details are still under wraps, however, the wall-crawlers next adventure will feature Peter Parker (Tom Holland) as he joins his friends on a summer vacation in Europe and stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio. Introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #13, best incarnation of Mysterio is a special effects wizard named Quentin Beck and the character has been a frequent foe for the web-head since his debut.
Upcoming known Marvel projects beyond Spider-Man: Far From Home including the long-awaited Black Widow standalone film, Marvel’s The Eternals, Shang-Chi, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3.
Tom Holland will next be seen as Spider-Man in Avengers: Endgame. Here is the plot synopsis for Avengers: Endgame:
