Kingsman star Taron Egerton collapsed on stage during a live performance on Saturday evening.
Taron Egerton’s performance as Eggsy in the Kingsman films has made him a household name. While he hasn’t reprised his role as the secret agent in the last few years, Egerton has been flexing his acting chops in a variety of projects, including Elton John’s biopic Rocketman, which many have dubbed a career-best performance. While Egerton has only dabbled in stage performance, the star recently returned to performing live.
As per Deadline, Taron Egerton collapsed on stage during a live performance at London’s Ambassador Theatre on Saturday night. The star was helped by a doctor in the audience, and soon after director Marianne Elliott ensured audiences that the Egerton was “absolutely fine”. Shortly after, the performance was continued by Egerton’s understudy.
Taron Egerton took to Instagram to confirm that he was fine and maintained that he would continue his future live performances.
“I am completely fine. Slightly sore neck and a bruised ego but I’m fine.
“I’ve decided to put a positive spin on it and I would appreciate it if anyone who was in the theatre last night just said that I gave such a committed, electrifying performance that my body couldn’t handle it and checked out.
“That being said, apparently you’re meant to actually do the full show and not just three quarters of it. So I’ll be back with a vengeance tomorrow night.
“That you to the amazing team at the theatre and my wonderful cast mates for being so lovely.
“But mainly I wanted to say thanks to Joel Harper-Jackson who stepped in to do the last bit of the play.
“Joel is an amazing actor and a lovely person. Thank you, Joel. T x.”
