New ‘Kong: Skull Island’ Japanese Style Illustrated Poster Released

A brand new illustrated poster for the upcoming Kong: Skull Island puts Kong and the monsters front and center for the Vietnam era set epic.

KongOver the last year and a half, illustrated posters have made a bit of a comeback ever since legendary artist Drew Struzan unveiled one for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The resurgence of illustrated posters themselves is quite refreshing in the age of clean and rather stale photoshopped movie posters. Legendary Pictures has now jumped on the bandwagon with a new illustrated for the upcoming Kong: Skull Island.

Last week, the studio released a fantastic Apocalypse Now style poster but now a new Japanese poster for Kong: Skull Island was revealed after it was shared on Twitter by the film’s director Jordan Vogt-Roberts. You can check it out below.

The poster itself was created by artist Yuji Kaida. Kaida puts Kong and the monsters including the skull crawlers front and center with a color palette similar to the film as it evokes the Vietnam era.

The film stars Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. JacksonJason Mitchell, Corey Hawkins, Toby Kebbell, Tom Wilkinson, Terry Notary, John Goodman and John C. ReillyHere’s the official synopsis:

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ “Kong: Skull Island” reimagines the origin of the mythic Kong in a compelling, original adventure from director Jordan Vogt-Roberts. In the film, a diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific—as beautiful as it is treacherous—unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.

Kong: Skull Island hits theaters March 10, 2017.
