‘Krypton’ Adds Cameron Cuffe As Seg-El, Superman’s Grandfather

Krypton, the long-time developing Superman prequel project at SyFy, has just found the Man of Steel’s grandfather. Variety reports that Cameron Cuffe has been cast in the lead role of the series, as Seg-El, father of Jor-El and grandfather of Kal-El a.k.a. Superman. Warner Horizon and SyFy describes the character as followed:

“Destined to be the ancestor of Jor-El, the future father of Superman, and Kal-El, the future Superman,, Seg-El is the scion of the once prosperous El family and is blessed with an intuitive brilliance for all things technical. He is now living in Krypton’s lowest caste after his family was stripped of its rank.”

This marks as the second casting announcement for the series as it was revealed last month that Georgina Campbell had landed the female lead in the upcoming DC drama as Lyta Zod. The Krypton pilot, which will be filming in Serbia, has co-executive producer Colm McCarthy as the director of the first episode, which was written executive producer David S. Goyer and Ian Goldberg. Damian Kindler will also be an executive producer, but also the show-runner of the series.

“Years before the Superman legend we know, the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This series follows The Man of Steel’s grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known.”

Krypton has currently a pilot order, but is being eyed for a 2017 launch on SyFy.
