Did Krysten Ritter tease her return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? The Jessica Jones star speaks on the recent wave of speculation caused by an Instagram post.
With Charlie Cox now officially back as Matt Murdock in the MCU, fans have been keeping their eyes peeled for any hints that his Defenders co-stars could join in his return. Particular attention has been on Krysten Ritter due to rumors of Jessica Jones appearing in Daredevil: Born Again.
For a while, there was no sign either way as to if Krysten Ritter would return to the MCU. However, that all changed when the actress posted a video wearing an iconic shirt from the Jessica Jones series with the caption “IYKYK.”
Krysten Ritter Addresses The Speculation
Like many things in the MCU fandom, this speculation eventually turned into fact among fans. Yet months after the video was initially posted, Kristen Ritter has officially come out to address the rumors. She explained to Collider that the post was just meant to be a fun nod to Jessica Jones fans, and that she never meant to tease a return.
“No, I didn’t. I have the shirt. It’s a great t-shirt. It’s one of my favorites and I was wearing it. I was like, ‘Oh, cute! Is anyone gonna recognize my shirt?’ But yeah, I did notice that it made some waves. That was fun.”
“That means a lot to me, as well. The character means so much to me, as well. It’s funny that one little thoughtless Instagram story of my cute t-shirt that I love [got that reaction].”
Even though the video wasn’t meant to hint at her return to the MCU, Krysten Ritter is certainly open to reprising her role as the iconic P.I. at Alias Investigations. Last year on Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast, she explained that she’d play Jessica Jones again in a second, even in spite of Marvel’s secretive nature. So even if she doesn’t return in Daredevil, there’s a good shot she’ll be back in the future!
