Is Jessica Jones officially set to make her return? Krysten Ritter speaks on if she’d be open to reprising her iconic role in Daredevil: Born Again.
One of the biggest questions lingering on the minds of fans ever since Daredevil: Born Again was announced was if any of Marvel’s other Netflix heroes would get the chance to join the MCU in a similar way. While there were plenty of rumors of characters like Luke Cage and Jessica Jones making their return in the project, the only one that seemed to have materialized is Jon Bernthal reprising his role as The Punisher.
This left fans to wonder if Marvel planned to leave the rest of the Defenders in the dust. However, following the success of Daredevil: Born Again, one has to imagine that the studio is at least considering other characters to make their return in a similar vein. Especially considering the set photos fans have seen of season 2, it’s likely that Matt Murdock will need quite a bit more help than just Jessica Jones and the worst Iron Fist.
Will Krysten Ritter Return As Jessica Jones?
As with every former Marvel actor on a press tour for their new projects, Krysten Ritter was asked about her grungy heroine from the Netflix saga. Of course, when speaking on a character like Jessica Jones, the conversation naturally flows to a potential return in Daredevil: Born Again. While the actress seemingly hasn’t been contacted for the show’s freshman outing, it seems the door isn’t closed for her to appear in a future season.
“Listen, I love Jessica Jones,” Ritter told CBS Mornings in a recent interview. “I think it’s so exciting that there seems to be such an appetite to see her again. I get asked about it almost everyday. We remain cautiously optimistic. If they asked me, I would be there ready. I may or may not have the jacket that I stole from set.”
Of course, an actress being open to return as their iconic character doesn’t mean much for their future prospects. After all, Elden Henson wanted to return as Foggy in Daredevil: Born Again, and everyone saw what happened to him! But given how open Krysten Ritter is being about her optimism, it’s more likely than not that some conversations are happening surrounding Jessica Jones.
