Lady Gaga Breaks Silence About Her Role As Harley Quinn In ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’

Lady Gaga's new take on a classic character!

Is Lady Gaga bringing forth a whole new take on Harley Quinn? The singer speaks on her upcoming role in Joker: Folie à Deux.

Fans were shocked when it was announced that Lady Gaga would have a starring role in Joker: Folie à Deux. While fans understand now that the project has many musical elements, some are still skeptic about why she was chosen for the role. When speaking about her role as Harley, Lady Gaga admits that it’s something entirely new, while also staying true to the film and its world.

“You know my version of Harley is mine and it’s very authentic to this movie and these characters,” Lady Gaga told Access Hollywood in a recent interview. “I’ve never done anything like I’ve done in this movie before, so it’s all going to be completely brand new and really fun.”

Joker: Folie à Deux is certainly bringing something entirely new to the world of Gotham. It’s rare fans get a sincere look inside the bars of Arkham Asylum, let alone one from the perspective of the patients. Though ultimately, it seems to be a take on the characters almost unable to be done without Lady Gaga taking on the mantle of Harley Quinn.

Joker: Folie à Deux’s Musical Malodies

Despite its musical nature being one of the biggest selling points, especially given Lady Gaga is attached to the project as Harley Quinn, fans are still skeptical about the direction of Joker: Folie à Deux. Some believe it to be a bold innovation on a stale formula, while others worry it may kneecap the project at a time DC is already struggling.

The director of Joker: Folie à Deux, Todd Phillips, rejects the idea it’s a musical. He claims that, while the film does have over a dozen songs, it doesn’t stray far from the first film’s tone. It ultimately seems whether the film is a musical or not will be a judgement call for fans when Lady Gaga takes the stage as Harley Quinn this fall.

Joker: Folie à Deux is set to hit theaters on October 4, 2024.  Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the sequel and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
