Billy Dee Williams Says Lando Won’t Appear In ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’

LandoWhile at his Smooth Talking with Billy Dee panel, Williams confirmed he would not reprise his role of Lando Calrissian in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

For years there have been rumors of Williams returning to reprise his role in the new trilogy in the Star Wars Saga and fans have been all for it. But, it seems like Williams hasn’t been contacted or he just isn’t interested in doing it.

A younger version of Lando will appear in the Han Solo Star Wars anthology film played by Donald Glover. In a recent interview, Glover spoke about taking on the role:

There’s a lot of pressure when you walk down the street, people are like “yo I’m excited about that Lando thing” – I’m excited, it’s a respectful role, it’s really cool iconic role, you couldn’t say no to it. People are excited about it, but I also get to do it in a new way, and I take it really seriously, I’ve been studying everyday!

Star WarsThe Star Wars Universe is one of the greatest cinematic achievements of all time and the high quality of the recent films are not only proving how strong a franchise it is, but also continuing to gain legions of new fans every year. With all of this being said it is appropriate to look at some of these issues and see how they can be addressed in a manner that could give everyone what they will want.

  • After Carrie passing away and Han being killed off… Yeah, its time to bring back smoothest scoundrel in the Galaxy. it is straight up weird if they bring back f**in Admiral Ackbar and Nein numb but not Lando. The Last Jedi apparently has a gambling planet… and No Lando? REALLY?

Episode 9 better represent. I mean, seriously though… I hope the only excuse is making it organically smooth in the narrative… But, yeah, they gotta get him in.
