Is the Green Lantern corps. finally getting their day in the sun? Aaron Pierre gives his thoughts on the Lanterns series as production wraps.

While there are many, many projects that people are excited to see come out of the new DC Universe, perhaps none are more anticipated than Lanterns. The series is set to be the grand return of the Green Lantern corps. to live-action after the disastrous Ryan Reynolds film that killed the love for the character among general audiences. The project may be Green Lantern fans’ last shot at defining the corps as more than just cameo filler.

Luckily, it seems everything is coming up Milhouse for Lanterns. Aaron Pierre recently spoke to Esquire about the Green Lantern series, which recently wrapped filming. The actor teased the grand scale of the project, hoping that he does the heroes the justice they deserve.

“It was an enormous shoot. It was of a grand scale in every sense of the word. We’re all very proud of this and very excited. It’s been a long time coming for many fans and supporters. And I truly hope with all my heart that we make everybody proud and we make everybody thrilled that we did this, because we’re thrilled and we’re proud.”

The Core Of The Lanterns Series

While the Green Lantern franchise is known for their cosmic battles and space adventures, that isn’t the only important aspect of the corps. Aaron Pierre goes on to tease that the series brings a lot of depth to these beloved characters, feeling that he got to know them like real people over the course of filming Lanterns.

“One of the things that I love the most about the Lantern Corps is that, yes, they are heroes. Yes, they are celebrated and championed as such, but they embrace their flaws in a way that is beautiful. That makes them extremely relatable.”

“We would often have this conversation on set. I feel like, knowing what I know and what we’ve done with this season, even if I wasn’t part of it, I would watch it and say, ‘I know those guys. In real life, I know those guys.'”

“That’s a really beautiful thing, that there’s an access point to these heroes. There are multiple access points to these heroes, because they are flawed and they embrace their flaws and they don’t shy away from their flaws. They do their best to redeem themselves actively, consciously.”

With Lanterns due out early next year, it likely won’t be long until fans get their first glimpses at the two leading members of the Green Lantern Corps, played by Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler. The series certainly has a large mountain ahead of it to climb, but all signs point to it soaring over all expectations in a single bound.
