Do fans finally know what the DC Universe is building up to? Merch from the Lanterns series has seemingly revealed the first “Big Bad” of the franchise.
Ever since it was announced that the DC Universe was getting a reboot that would build up to something greater, fans have been wild with speculation about who the first “Big Bad” would be. Theories have ranged from Darkseid, to the Centre, to Earth X. However, all signs have pointed to that villain being revealed in Lanterns.
That idea seems to be getting stronger by the day. Merch for Lanterns has begun to leak onto the streets ahead of its release early next year. One particular piece of merch seems to reveal much more than it might intend, as the hat seems to feature an emblem reminiscent of spirals associated with the Centre. While not confirmed, this is certainly pretty good supporting evidence that the Dinosaur Island may end up being the first Big Bad of the DC Universe.

What Is The Centre?
DC Universe fans may better know the Centre as another name for Dinosaur Island, a world which holds the last of the living dinosaurs. The island turned on humanity after the first hydrogen bomb was detonated, turning them into a villain for the Justice League. Rumors have suggested that cultists for the Centre may end up appearing in Lanterns, potentially explaining the above merch.
This also lines up with the current plans for the DC Universe. James Gunn recently confirmed that Salvation Run will be adapted in upcoming projects. While the original planet was artificially created by Darkseid, it wouldn’t be shocking to change the planet into the Centre itself, saving Darkseid and Apokolips for a future leg of the franchise.
