The talk of the town the past few weeks has been that the DC Universe has started casting for their Green Lantern series. With Kyle Chandler now being confirmed to play Hal Jordan in Lanterns, the internet has turned their eyes to John Stewart, expecting the iconic Justice League hero to be cast sooner rather than later now that his mentor has finally had his contract cemented.
While dozens of names have been thrown out regarding who could play John Stewart, it seems Lanterns is going for yet another wildcard pick. Damson Idris certainly has the pedigree to play John Stewart. The actor has had a long career in television, with his experience with sci-fi film Outside the Wire and crime drama Snowfall making him a solid fit for the tone being sought out by Lanterns. Fans are also reacting relatively well to the news that Idris could be the main Green Lantern in the DC Universe for the foreseeable future, especially as Kyle Chandler has a surprisingly sparse contract for his role as Hal Jordan.
However, it’s important fans temper expectations. Kyle Chandler wasn’t even on the radar for scoopers when it came to the role of Hal Jordan, with half a dozen other names being thrown out for who could play the DC Universe’s Green Lantern. While Damson Idris may be a solid choice to play John Stewart in Lanterns, nothing should be believed until the contract is penned in ink.
