‘The LEGO Batman Movie’ Doesn’t Do Well At China Box Office

Chris McKay's 'The LEGO Batman Movie' doesn't make quite as big of a splash at the Chinese box office like it has in other international markets.

Although The LEGO Batman Movie has made a good amount of money domestically, it hasn’t done very well at the China box office, grossing only $3.6 million so far. Regardless of the bomb at the Chinese box office, the film has still managed to make $108 million internationally and has raked in $148.6 million domestically.

In the United Kingdom, The LEGO Batman Movie made $30 million, so even though it may have bombed in China, it doesn’t mean that it hasn’t succeeded in other international markets.

At the box office this weekend, the film slipped to fourth place after debuting at number one a few weeks ago. It was bested by another superhero film, that of James Mangold’s Logan, but still made an additional $11.6 million.

Recently, the film’s director, Chris McKay, spoke about how The LEGO Batman Movie came to be and how awesome it was to cast Billy Dee Williams in the voice role of Two-Face.

The film stars Will Arnett as Batman, Michael Cera as Robin, Rosario Dawson as Barbara Gordon, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred, Zach Galifianakis as The Joker, Jenny Slate as Harley Quinn, Billy Dee Williams as Two-Face, Conan O’Brien as The Riddler, Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Doug Benson as Bane, Jason Mantzoukas as Scarecrow, Riki Lindhome as Poison Ivy, Kate Micucci as Clayface, Channing Tatum as Superman, Jonah Hill as Green Lantern, Adam Devine as The Flash and Hector Elizondo as Jim Gordon.

The LEGO Batman Movie is still playing in theaters.
