Len Wiseman To Direct Female-Centric ‘John Wick’ Spin-Off For Lionsgate

Deadline reports Len Wiseman will direct a female-centric John Wick spinoff for Lionsgate.

Lionsgate’s John Wick film series is set to expand with a new female-centric spin-off titled Ballerina. Director Len Wiseman will helm the spin-off for Lionsgate from a script written by Shay Hatten, who co-wrote the screenplay for the third John Wick film.

Len Wiseman’s Ballerina will focus on a young female assassin who seeks revenge against the people who murdered her family. A character named Ballerina was introduced in John Wick: Chapter 3 with Unity Phelan credited for the role, but Deadline is unsure who the star of the spin-off will be and whether or not Keanu Reeves will appear in the Len Wiseman film.

Lionsgate has put the Len Wiseman spin-off on a fast track with Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee on board as producers. Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski are also involved in producing roles while James Myers will oversee Len Wiseman’s Ballerina at Lionsgate.

Lens Wiseman is perhaps best known for his directing work on the Underworld film series. Additional directing credits for Len Wiseman include Live Free or Die Hard, and episodes of Lucifer, The Gifted, and Swamp Thing. Are you excited to see Len Wiseman at the helm of this spin-off? Let us know below!

Meanwhile, Lionsgate is moving forward with a fourth entry in the John Wick film series, but fans re-watch the third installment on all home media formats. Here is the official synopsis for Lionsgate’s John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum:

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.

Directed by Chad Stahelski from a script written by Derek Kolstad, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum stars Keanu Reeves, Halle Berry, Ian McShane, Ruby Rose, Common, Lance Reddick, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Jason Mantzoukas, Anjelica Huston, and Boban Marjanovic.

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
