Tom Blyth is taking on the role of Coriolanus Snow for The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes, with the Hunger Games helmer Francis Lawrence directing the project for Lionsgate. Blyth’s co-star Rachel Zegler announced that the movie has wrapped with a post on her official Twitter page.

In addition to Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler, The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes also features Hunter Schafer, Jason Schwartzman, Peter Dinklage, Viola Davis, Burn Gorman, Fionnula Flanagan and Josh Andres Rivera, among many others. Suzanne Collins worked on the screenplay alongside Michael Arndt and Michael Lesslie.

The Hunger Games centered on Katniss Everdeen’s rising popularity on a televised battle royale death match and her subsequent leadership role in the uprising against a fascist government. Lionsgate released four films based on the novels, starring Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence as Everdeen opposite Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, and Elizabeth Banks. The film series collectively grossed nearly $3 billion at the worldwide box office.

Here is the premise for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes:

Years before he would become the tyrannical President of Panem, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is the last hope for his fading lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, the young Snow is alarmed when he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird, the girl tribute from impoverished District 12. But, after Lucy Gray commands all of Panem’s attention by defiantly singing during the reaping ceremony, Snow thinks he might be able to turn the odds in their favor. Uniting their instincts for showmanship and newfound political savvy, Snow and Lucy’s race against time to survive will ultimately reveal who is a songbird, and who is a snake.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is scheduled to hit theaters on November 17, 2023. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the Hunger Games prequel and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
