New photos from the set of Captain America: New World Order offer fans a first look at the long-awaited Marvel Cinematic Universe return of Liv Tyler’s Betty Ross Return. In the photos, which were shared by Just Jared, Tyler can be seen shooting scenes alongside her New World Order co-stars Anthony Mackie, Xosha Roquemore and Shira Haas.

Liv Tyler made her first Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance in the 2008 film The Incredible Hulk alongside Edward Norton, who played the role of Bruce Banner. The film explored the origins of the Hulk and the relationship between Banner and Ross. Tyler’s portrayal of Ross received critical acclaim and fans have been waiting for her MCU return for fifteen years now.

Captain America: New World Order sees Antony Mackie returning to the role of Sam Wilson following the events of the Disney Plus series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The series ended with Wilson taking up the mantle of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Anthony Mackie has been a popular figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since his introduction as Sam Wilson in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and his elevation to the role of Captain America has been met with great enthusiasm from fans. New World Order marks his first cinematic solo outing as Captain America.

What to expect from the Captain America sequel

Details regarding the plot of Captain America: New World Order are being kept under wraps. Thunderbolt Ross (Harrison Ford) and The Leader (Tim Blake Nelson) are expected to serve as the main villains of the movie, which begins production this Spring for a May 2024 release.

Julius Onah is directing Captain America: New World Order, working a script by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. The cast of the movie also includes Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley and Shira Haas as Sabra, with Xosha Roquemore on board in an undisclosed role.
