With the official announcement about the upcoming Disney Plus (Disney+) streaming service ready to launch in late 2019, numerous new series and films have also been announced to be in development for Disney’s competitor against the likes of Netflix, Hulk and Amazon. One of those projects is a standalone series centered on the God of Mischief himself, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This news about the future of Loki has excited many, including Mark Ruffalo.
On Tom Hiddleston’s official Instagram where he posted his response to the news, Mark Ruffalo commented expressing his excitement with an obvious pun:
It is currently unknown when this Loki series would take place in the chronology of the MCU. Given the events of Avengers: Infinity War, anything that takes place after the events of that film and the untitled fourth Avengers film remains a mystery. Given that Thanos (Josh Brolin) strangled Loki to death at the beginning of Infinity War, it would seem likely that this series would take place before the events of that film but stranger things have happened with Loki.
In regards to Ruffalo’s excitement, he is likely just referring to how happy he must feel to see his co-star receive his own standalone series. This probably doesn’t hint at any presence of Bruce Banner/Hulk, but it would sure be fun to see especially given their history together from the first Avengers film, Thor: Ragnarok and Infinity War. Their relationship seemed to come full circle when Loki tells Thanos, “We have a Hulk…”
Fans may have a better idea of what the future holds for Loki after Avengers 4 hits theaters.
