Is Loki disposable? An Avengers: Doomsday rumor suggests that Tom Hiddleston’s God of Stories may not be a main character in the upcoming crossover.
Ever since it was announced that Tom Hiddleston would make his return as Loki in Avengers: Doomsday, fans were convinced that the character would play a central role in the story. After all, not only was he literally holding the Multiverse together, but he would act as a perfect replacement for Kang the Conqueror’s role in explaining the multiverse to audiences.
However, the rumor mill has been oddly silent about the role that Loki will play in the film. And it seems as though that might be because they just don’t have much to say. According to a rumor from DanielRPK, Tom Hiddleston will only have a “small” role in Avengers: Doomsday as his beloved villain turned hero.
Loki’s Role In Avengers: Doomsday
While the scooper didn’t reveal too much more when it came to Loki’s role in the rest of the film, he did reveal that Tom Hiddleston filmed a scene in “Steve and Peggy’s home” where he’s speaking to them. It seems as though Loki will serve as the inciting incident for Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday, bringing him into the film’s main conflict.
It’s likely from there that Loki will let Steve Rogers go about his mission mostly unbothered, with Tom Hiddleston potentially making his return for a climactic fight scene or reunion with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. Though, given how packed Avengers: Doomsday is set to be, it’s entirely possible that they hold off on any further development until Secret Wars.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
